A lot to Love in Christiansburg, Virginia this Summer

Small towns like Christiansburg are often overlooked by travelers and locals alike when searching for fun activities and unique experiences. At Aspire, we know that there’s always something new to try here, because we live and work right here in town!

Summers in Christiansburg are relatively mild with lots of sunny days, which is perfect for choosing outdoor activities to keep you and your family busy during this season. It can get hot here, though, so we included some air conditioned options as well!

Take a look at this list that showcases some of the many things to do here this summer:

Biking on the Huckleberry Trail

Bikers on the Huckleberry Trail

Unwind after a long day or plan a family weekend bike ride on the Huckleberry Trail. With starting points behind the Christiansburg Recreation Center and the New River Valley Mall, you can take the paved trail all the way to downtown Blacksburg or through Blacksburg’s winding farmlands. With rolling hills, beautiful summer greenery, and farm animals along the way, a bike ride on the Huckleberry is a great solo activity or a great way to stay physically active with your family and friends.

The Starlite Drive-In features movies Fridays through Sundays. Check on their website for upcoming viewings. We have a number of great location restaurants. There are many more, but a few to choose from include: The Farmhouse, Lost in Taste, The Summit, and Bull and Bones.

Indoor Activities To Stay Cool This Summer

Some days are just too hot to spend much time outside. Want to still have fun and be active?

Try out a yoga class at Sweetgrass Yoga in Downtown Christiansburg. With multiple classes to choose from for all experience levels, a yoga class can be refreshing to the mind and body during the hottest parts of summer.

You will be required to complete a short orientation before the fun begins, but climbing is a fun way to test strength, agility, and spend time with your friends and family.

Perhaps festivals are more your speed? We have several each summer, including:

Montgomery County Heritage Day

As the summer winds down in August, the Montgomery Museum hosts a Heritage Day for the whole family to attend. On August 19, 2023, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, bring your family to the Montgomery County Heritage Day for antique vehicles, a showcase of traditional crafts, live music, and education about our area’s traditional food cuisine.
